Coffee is Produce & Process

Coffee, much like your favorite local crop, is seasonal produce. We believe it should be sourced, roasted, sold, and consumed as such.

All of our coffees are sourced as the crops become available from their origin countries, be it Colombia, Tanzania, or elsewhere. We roast weekly to ensure that your coffee is as fresh as can be, and recommend that you drink it within a month of opening.

Just COffee that’s Just coffee

As a fruit of the global economy, the coffee industry touches every corner of our society. What this often means is the exploitation of those involved, namely the farmers and producers working in developing countries. Big-brand coffee companies and suppliers tend to rule the industry, and farmers don’t earn their fair, livable wage. At The Neighbors Coffee & Co, we believe that it is our responsibility to empower our neighbors to flourish at all levels of society. We only use farm-direct and socially-minded suppliers to source our coffee, ensuring that coffee communities are supported, invested-in, and paid ethically and justly for their labor.

These coffees, much like fine wine, each have their own distinct flavors. Depending on the origin, elevation, or processing method (among other things) of each particular coffee, there are natural flavor notes that embody each cup. It is our job as the roaster to find and highlight the best flavors that each coffee has to offer, and to achieve those flavors at their peak with each roast. Some coffees, such as a medium-bodied South American single-origin, might be especially chocolatey, nutty, and citrus-forward. Other coffees, such as a naturally-processed African single-origin, may be incredibly fruit-forward and have distinct berry notes. Each coffee, crop, and season is unique unto itself. We love sharing each roast with our neighbors and geeking out over the all the flavors that coffee has to offer.

BRewing At Home

From farming and producing, to roasting, to grinding and brewing at home, there are SO many factors that can make or break a great cup of coffee. We recommend using coffee that has been stored in a dry place and sealed well to delay staling. We also encourage that you use fresh, filtered water and that you grind your coffee as you use it for peak freshness. And while we know each pallet, preference, and morning routine is different, we think that the ratios below are a great place to start. We encourage you to adjust where your preferences see fit in order to find your favorite cup.

Coffee : Water

1 : 16 (grams)

1 tbsp : 4 Oz
